Student Accessibility Services

Student Accessibility Services provide supports and services to Muskingum University students with permanent and temporary disabilities taking in-person and/or online courses.

Mission

In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Student Accessibility Services provides federally mandated reasonable accommodations to qualified students with permanent and temporary disabilities to support participation in all aspects of college life. 

Philosophy

Essential to the larger mission of the institution, the purpose of Student Accessibility Services is to improve the educational experience of students with disabilities and to enhance the understanding and support within the university through equitable access, accommodations, and services. The goals of Student Accessibility Services are to empower the student and encourage and foster independence, self-advocacy, and responsibility. Students registered with Student Accessibility Services have an equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of campus life. Learning, access, and inclusion are facilitated through partnerships with students, faculty, and staff.  

Student Accessibility Services empowers student independence, development of self-advocacy skills, and supports the whole student. Student Accessibility Services educates the university community about the needs of students with disabilities to foster an accessible, inclusive, and caring community.
