FAFSA Filing Night to be held for high school seniors
Montgomery Hall

High school students and their parents looking for some help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are invited to attend a free event at Muskingum University from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8. The event, open to all students regardless of where they plan to pursue a degree, is hosted by the University’s Student Financial Services Office.

“Because we are so familiar with the questions, we can help you move through the application faster than it might take if you tried on your own,” said Muskingum University Director of Student Financial Services Amber Gump. “Whether you have already started the application or you would like us to help you from the beginning, we’re more than happy to help.”

Muskingum’s financial aid counselors will be available to assist attendees with the process and be available to answer questions. Attendees should bring parent and student 2016 tax information and any FSA IDs that they have created.

“We know filling out the FAFSA can be a bit complicated, especially the first time,” said Kelley Goodrich, financial aid counselor at Muskingum University. “As long as you have all of the information you need, we can help you complete the form in as little as 30 minutes.”

Regardless of whether or not you believe you will receive financial assistance, Gump says it’s a good idea to complete the application, especially students who plan to attend Muskingum.

“While families with higher income may not qualify for federal or state grant assistance, they may still be eligible for Muskingum Grant assistance,” said Gump. “We encourage all families to file the FAFSA the first year to make sure they are not missing out on any financial aid.”

Students and families interested in attending can register for free online or call Muskingum’s Student Financial Services Office at 740-826-8139.
