Dr. Wehage elected officer of international foreign language honorary

Muskingum University Professor of German Dr. Franz-Joseph Wehage has been elected to a two-year term as first vice president of the executive board of Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign language honor society.

Dr. Wehage joined the faculty at Muskingum in 1991. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at the State University of New York – Albany. 

At Muskingum, Dr. Wehage received the William Rainey Harper Award for Outstanding Scholarship in 2002 and 2012. As part of his development of the German program at Muskingum, he created study abroad opportunities at both Deggendorf University and Passau University. He has published several books, most recently Geschaftsdeutsch: An Introduction to German Business Culture, which he co-authored with Gudrun Clay.

During his tenure as advisor of the Phi Sigma Iota chapter at Muskingum, seven of Muskingum’s graduates have been awarded scholarships since 2005, including the Dr. Henry Ward Church Scholarship, the highest honor granted by Phi Sigma Iota.
