Sisterhood Recoded

Muskingum University presented Sisterhood ReCoded, a week-long summer coding camp for middle school girls ages 10-15, from July 21-August 4, 2023.

Participants learned how to create their own mobile apps, on a topic of their chosen interest. Guest speakers included women working in technology fields, who shared information about their professions and how they became interested in technology.

Muskingum Assistant Professor of Computer Science Jay Shaffstall directed the camp, which was taught primarily by computer science major Treva Hampp ’25.

The camp was sponsored by the Ohio NCWIT (National Center for Women & Information Technology) Affiliate, the Adams Family Foundation, Muskingum University, and Target.

Next year’s camp is planned for August 5-9, 2024, and will mark the fifth anniversary of the program.
