Dear Members of the Muskingum Community:
While there are no known cases of the coronavirus on campus, due to concerns, and at the urging of Governor DeWine, the University will be moving to an off-campus instructional format starting on Monday, March 16. We will continue on-campus classroom instruction until the end of the day Thursday, March 12, to allow time for students, faculty and staff to prepare for off-campus instruction.
Students will be expected to vacate Residence Halls by noon on Friday, March 13. For those students unable to leave campus, arrangements will be made.
Administrators and staff are expected to continue to report to campus and will receive further instructions about their work responsibilities. Faculty should plan to teach classes as scheduled on March 11 and 12. There will be additional faculty responsibilities on Friday, March 13. Details will follow.
All campus events scheduled during the period of off-campus instruction have been canceled or postponed. In addition, the President's Council of the Ohio Athletic Conference decided to cancel all 2020 spring sports seasons, effective March 16 through the remainder of the academic year. This includes all athletically-related activities defined by the NCAA. In addition, all meetings, practices, and other off-season activities for fall and winter sports have been canceled.
All travel involving students is canceled or postponed through the period of off-campus instruction. Students are urged to reach out to the trip organizer with questions or concerns. All University-sponsored non-essential employee travel has been canceled during the period of off-campus instruction.
The above actions will be in place until March 29 unless you are notified accordingly. We are committed to providing the best possible educational experience for our students while ensuring the well-being of the campus community. We will provide regular updates on www.muskingum.edu/coronavirus.
