Hook Your Books

Hook Your Books Info

In fall 2021, Muskingum University began providing required textbooks and course materials free to undergraduate students. Powered by Barnes & Noble College, which operates the Muskingum University Bookstore, Hook Your Books will ensure Muskingum students have all the course materials they need for academic success available by the first day of class.

Participation in the Hook Your Books program will be part of students’ tuition. Muskingum University is the first institution in Ohio to offer the Hook Your Books program at no extra cost to students.

As part of the program, students will select their preferred delivery method. The University bookstore will prepare the materials for each student and notify them when the materials have shipped or are available for pickup at the bookstore. Digital materials will be delivered directly through the Muskingum University learning management system, Blackboard.

In addition, Hook Your Books fully supports academic freedom and faculty choice. Faculty members can choose the materials that are best suited for their teaching, regardless of publisher or format.

Students who have registered for classes will receive a welcome email from Barnes and Noble 35 days before classes start. Five days later, they will receive a follow-up email where they will choose whether to pick up their books in the bookstore or have them shipped. If students do not receive the emails, once they are registered for classes, they can reserve their books online in the Muskingum University bookstore by clicking on Reserve My Books in the Hook Your Books banner.

If students have questions about the Hook Your Books Program, they can email the bookstore at bookstore@muskingum.edu.
