American Studies

As an interdisciplinary minor, the American Studies program at Muskingum University centers on the study of American civilization, providing students the opportunity to approach this broad topic from the point of view of several different disciplines.

Mission Statement

The American Studies minor fosters the interdisciplinary study of the values, beliefs, cultures and social systems of the United States.  The curriculum integrates a variety of methods and disciplines to help students evaluate and interpret American society.  The program’s intent supports the University’s mission to promote critical thinking and ethical sensitivity.
