Speech team takes honors at Marietta College tournament

The Muskingum University speech team took significant honors at the forensics tournament held November 7 at Marietta College.

Overall, the team was awarded first place in Poetry, second place in Informative Speaking, second and third place in After Dinner Speaking, fourth place in Programmed Oral Interpretation and fourth place in Dramatic Interpretation. The team also earned Pi Kappa Delta (PKD) distinctions of Good, Excellent, and Superior in 80 percent of its events. PKD is the national honor society for forensics competitors.

Competing for Muskingum were the following students:
Taylor Arnold '13 competed in Persuasive Speaking.
Tao Huang '10 competed in Impromptu Speaking and Impromptu Sales.
Elizabeth Bullard '12 competed in After Dinner Speaking and Impromptu Sales.
Nathania Johnson '11 competed in Poetry Interpretation and Programmed Oral Interpretation.
Andrea Richard '11 competed in Prose Interpretation and Informative Speaking.
Callie Saxton '11 competed in Dramatic Interpretation.
Tessa Vinson '13 competed in After Dinner Speaking.

The forensics program at Muskingum University is coached and advised by Instructor of Speech Communication Rachel Pollock.
