On Campus
Youth camps spend the summer on campusThroughout the Summer of 2018, Muskingum University community members helped host and educate young people through a variety of camps and workshops. Camp attendees honed their skills in leadership, music theatre, vocal music, marching band, football, baseball, and computing.
Highlights of the summer camps included:
* The long-running annual Summer High School Music Theatre Camp, led by Muskingum Artist-in-Residence Carol Wilcox-Jones and Professor of Music Emeritus Bob Jones '63.
* The fourth annual Cardinal Chorale Music Workshop, which brought together young singers for a weeklong, comprehensive music experience and presented an eclectic series of 5 concerts open to the public.
* The second annual Sisterhood Recoded camp, led by Assistant Professor of Computer Science Jay Shaffstall, which introduced middle school girls to the information technology field and included mentoring by Muskingum’s current female computer science students. Sisterhood Recoded campers worked in small groups to identify a social problem and create an app to address it.
