Water Refill Stations Installed on Campus

Seven water-refill stations have been installed on Muskingum University’s campus this fall thanks to a Student Senate initiative.

Led by Zach Mitchell ’19 and Kayla Wilkerson ’19, Student Senate voted to allocate its Spring 2019 Capital Growth Funds for the installation of water-refill stations in multiple campus buildings.

The stations are now located in the Chess Center, Quad Center, Steele Center, and the lobbies of the Finney, Kelley, Memorial/Moore, and Thomas residence halls.

In outlining the need for the initiative, the Student Senate’s resolution noted that because water-refill stations dispense water from the top to fill personal water containers and also function as a regular drinking fountain, their installation promotes a healthier lifestyle for students while reducing the waste generated by disposable plastic water bottles.
