Several Muskingum University students have been recognized for their outstanding work at the Region Two Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, held in January 2023.

Theatre and Media Production major Kailyn Shalosky ’24 won first place in Lighting Design for The Secret in the Wings. This award qualifies Kailyn to attend the National Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, to be held in April 2023 in Washington, D.C.

David McDonald ’23, a Theatre and Music major, won honorable mention in Sound Design for The Secret in the Wings.

The poster from the Theatre Department’s April 2022 production of Suessical won the festival’s Show Poster Competition, which is voted on by festival attendees. The poster was designed by Kailyn Shalosky ’24 and Chloe Tang, a visiting student from Ireland during the 2021-2022 academic year.

A total of 9 students attended the festival, participating in programs including Dramaturgy, the Institute for Theatrical Journalism, and multiple performance, design, technical, and management categories.
