Second Year Spring Semester

  • Organic Chemistry II

  • Microbiology

Third Year Fall Semester

  • Anatomy & Physiology I
  • Biochemistry I or II

Third Year Spring Semester

  • Statistics

The following upper-level science courses are highly recommended, and can be taken as offered, starting in the Spring Semester of the Second Year. (Many of these courses are alternate year courses.):

  • Biochemistry I
  • Biochemistry II
  • Genetics
  • Marketing courses are also recommended

Students also have to complete all requirements for a major of their choice as well as all General Education requirements.

 

[3+1] Chemistry Major Pathway for Pre-Pharmacy Students

Students complete this program in 3 years at Muskingum, followed by completion of the First Year of Pharmacy School to earn the BS Degree from Muskingum University, resulting in one less year to earn the PharmD.

Degree Requirements:

  • CHEM 111, 112, 213, 214, 315, 335, 355, 418 or 419
  • BIOL 121, 122, 312
  • MATH 190, 200
  • PHEN 121, 122
  • Complete all Gen Ed categories except Categories 8. Health & 13. U.S. Experience

Recommended electives:

  • MATH 140/PSYC 232
  • ECON 215
  • BIOL 305

Total credit hours to be completed at Muskingum University: 95-99

Total of upper-level hours to be completed at Muskingum University: 26

Minimum of 36 hours to be completed in the first year of an accredited Pharm.D. Program with Pass Grades earned in all of these courses – student needs to have the transcript sent from the Pharm.D. School to Muskingum University.
