Director of Student Leadership and Engagement

Muskingum University seeks a dynamic and strategic professional to lead initiatives that will empower students in the areas of engagement, leadership development, and organizational management.  The Director will report to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, will supervise the Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Engagement, and will be an integral member of the Student Affairs team.  The Director will design and manage leadership training programs, supervise and support social sororities and fraternities, and work closely with campus partners to enhance the student experience.  In addition, the Director will oversee the Muskingum Programming Board and provide functional supervision to Area Coordinators with collateral assignments to support Student Clubs and Organizations.


Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field.

Experience managing Fraternity and Sorority social organizations preferred; at least two years’ experience serving as an officer or leader in a Fraternity or Sorority social club is acceptable.

Demonstrated ability to engage students and motivate them to strive for growth

Passion for supporting undergraduate education in a liberal arts institution

Evidence of strong and respectful collaborative working relationship with other staff educators, administrators, and faculty members.

Commitment to educating and supporting a diverse student, faculty, and staff population, and to striving for inclusive excellence in all aspects of program delivery

Excellent written and verbal skills

Experience in data-based approaches to assessment of student learning outcomes for leadership skill development.

Weekend and evening work are vital to the success of this position.
