Director of Student Engagement

Muskingum University invites applications for the position of Director of Student Engagement. This is an opportunity to join an energetic team of Student Life educators, who support our students outside of the classroom and engage partners across the campus. The Director works closely with students and campus partners to build meaningful co-curricular engagement opportunities for all Muskingum University undergraduates. This is an exciting time at Muskingum University as the University has opened a new health and wellness facility, is renovating multiple other campus facilities, and continues the expansion of co-curricular programming to create a transformative student experience.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students and supervising the collateral assignment of an Area Coordinator, the primary duties of this position are to support the development and implementation of a robust program of co-curricular engagement for Muskingum University students in a variety of activities and experiences. This position coordinates new student programs, including Muskie Preview and Move-In/Welcome Weekend, supports commuter student services and programs, and supervises several student programming boards in the provision of weekly student activity opportunities.

As a generalist in Student Affairs, the Director is an integral member of the Student Affairs team providing programs designed to support and enhance student success.  The successful candidate will serve in the Back Up Duty rotation, including having visibility on campus during on-call periods.  Apartment housing within a residence hall may be available.


  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field.
  • Two or more years of Student Affairs administrative experience, including experience with student clubs and organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students and motivate them to strive for growth.
  • Passion for supporting undergraduate education in a liberal arts institution.
  • Evidence of strong and respectful collaborative working relationship with other staff educators, administrators, and faculty members.
  • Commitment to educating and supporting a diverse student, faculty, and staff population, and to striving for inclusive excellence in all aspects of program delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Experience in data-based approaches to assessment of student learning outcomes for leadership skill development.
