Director of Recruiting and Advising for Graduate Teacher Education
Muskingum University invites applications for the Director of Recruiting and Advising for Graduate Teacher Education. This position will build on existing relationships while developing and nurturing new relationships with schools and school districts throughout the state of Ohio, and focus on universities whose graduates wish to enter master's degree and certification programs for educators. This position will also provide all academic advising to prospective, incoming, and continuing students in graduate teacher education programs and records and provides initiative-taking support based on student needs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruiting
- Work with Director of Graduate Teacher Education and AVPGCS to establish annual goals that align with Muskingum’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor, track, and communicate recruitment and enrollment metrics.
- Identify and target potential students for enrollment in our graduate education programs.
- Coordinate and conduct recruitment events and activities, including events and information sessions.
- Manage and maintain relationships with external partners, including schools and school districts, teacher education projects, and universities.
- Communicate with potential students via text, phone, virtual platforms, email, and in-person to discuss program offerings and answer questions.
- Communicate with students and alumni within Muskingum’s graduate program for additional upskilling.
- Complete transcript audits for potential students and advises each student.
- Oversee the application process and provide support to prospective students throughout the enrollment process.
- Stay up to date on education industry trends and best practices in education.
- Meet regularly with Director of Graduate Teacher Education to report progress and findings through external connections.
- Advising
- Support students in setting career goals through the application process explaining both licensure requirements and University policies and procedures.
- Review transfer courses and evaluate transfer credits as needed for credential or degree requirements.
- Guide students regarding experiential opportunities and success strategies.
- Meet with students experiencing academic difficulty and develop plans for success.
- Utilize appropriate student record systems and data to track student progress and maintain accurate notes.
- Assist with graduation audits including proper notifications to students and the Registrar’s office.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in education or relevant degree.
- 2 or more years of experience preferred in Pre-K-12 education or relevant education environment.
- Persuasive communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Experience or can learn Muskingum’s CRM system.
- Valid Driver's License and Dependable Vehicle
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Master’s degree in education or equivalent
- Experience in teacher education and/or previous Pre-K-12 teaching experience.
- Experience working in higher education in advising.
- Prior experience working with adults and graduate students.
- Knowledge of educator prep programs and experience working within the education industry.
- Experience with student information systems.
