Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Engagement

Muskingum University seeks an energetic and creative professional to support the development and engagement of students in the areas of leadership development and organizational management.  The Assistant Director will report to the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement and will be an integral member of the Student Affairs team.  The Assistant Director will coordinate signature programs such as Muskie Preview and Homecoming Weekend, will oversee commuter student supports and services, and will serve as the Student Affairs liaison to the First Year Seminar program.  As a Student Affairs generalist the Assistant Director is an integral member of a team providing programming to support and enhance student success.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field preferred; bachelor’s degree required.

Applied experience in supporting first year and new student programs. 

Demonstrated ability to engage students and motivate them to strive for growth

Passion for supporting undergraduate education in a liberal arts institution

Commitment to educating and supporting a diverse student, faculty, and staff population, and to striving for inclusive excellence in all aspects of program delivery

Evidence of strong and respectful collaborative working relationship with other staff educators, administrators, and faculty members.

Excellent written and verbal skills

This 12-month position requires weekend and evening work; housing is provided in an apartment located within a Muskingum University residence hall.
