Assistant Director of Experiential Learning

Muskingum University invites applications for an Assistant Director of Experiential Learning.  The Assistant Director plays a critical role in coordinating internships, service learning, civic engagement, and supporting the administration of the University Fellows Programs.  The position works collaboratively with faculty, employers, and community partners to ensure that students engage in meaningful, high impact experiences.  This role provides essential administrative and stewardship support for several programs funded by grants and donors.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Experiential Learning & Internship Coordination

  • Support and serve as a liaison for faculty and employers in the development of quality high impact learning experiences that align with student learning outcomes.
  • Advise students on experiential learning options and connect them with opportunities.
  • Facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions on professional development topics relevant to high-impact learning experiences.
  • Support students throughout the experience lifecycle from preparation and placement to evaluation and reflection.
  • Ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities for all students

University Fellows Programs Administration

  • Provide administrative Coordination for Muskingum’s University Fellows Programs, including student communication, budget tracking, status updates, and annual reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day logistics of the programs, including events, workshops, and engagement.
  • Assist with donor stewardship, including communication, reporting, and event participation.
  • Collaborate closely with Fellows Directors to ensure consistent and adequate program support and success.

High-Impact Experience Grants & Budget Management

  • Oversee the High-Impact Experience Grant process, including student outreach, application review, and tracking.
  • Administer grant budgets, disbursements, and reporting requirements in coordination with the Director and the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  • Provide strategic input to improve access and utilization of experiential learning funds.

Outreach, Promotion & Assessment

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote experiential learning across campus.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to market programs through class visits, campus events, and social media.
  • Track participation, outcomes, and feedback using career and experiential learning platforms such as Handshake.
  • Support assessment and reporting for continuous improvement and institutional effectiveness.
     

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, non-
    profit administration or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in career services, fundraising, higher
    education, service learning, or related experiential education programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with event
    coordination and budget tracking.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, employers, and community
    partners.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience with donor stewardship or grant-funded program coordination.
  • Familiarity with liberal arts education, service-learning pedagogy, and platforms
    such as Handshake.
