Assistant-Associate Professor of Spanish-French

The Department of World Languages at Muskingum University invites applications for a full-time continuing term position in Spanish and French at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning in the fall semester of 2019.   We are seeking a strong generalist to continue our commitment to educating students in the liberal arts traditions through study of world languages and cultures.  The successful candidate will teach all levels of undergraduate Spanish and French language, culture and literature courses.   

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Spanish with a minimum of 18 graduate coursework hours in French (a strong candidate with the reverse combination will be considered), plus native or near-native fluency in Spanish, French and English.   The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising undergraduates, be prepared to contribute to the university and the department through service, and engage in creative and collaborative program development.  Experience with Business Spanish, Business French, teacher licensure or service learning is highly desirable.

The Department of World Languages offers majors and minors in French, German and Spanish, as well as a minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.   Additionally, the university offers interdisciplinary majors in International Business and International Affairs, programs that require intermediate-level coursework in at least one world language.
