American Studies

Tackling a broad range of icons, texts, and events — from LeBron James and Rosie the Riveter to the American Revolution, and The Godfather — students in American Studies evaluate and interpret what it means to be an American and the idea of a nation over time. This minor fosters the interdisciplinary study of the values, beliefs, cultures, and social systems of the United States.

Outcomes

Our American Studies minors graduate with well-honed, valuable job-market skills including oral communication, critical thinking, and professional writing. They achieve an understanding of civic engagement, as well as contemporary political and cultural debates and their origins.
