Taking "Brain Related Activities Into Nearby Schools"
A continuing program of educational outreach,
taking brain-related activities, demonstrations, and information into area schools
Classroom activities currently being developed include:
- We Are Our Brains
- Hands-on exploration of the structure and function of the brain
- Comparative neuroanatomy of vertebrate brains
- Microscopic anatomy: exploring the cells that make up your brain
- Learning About Your Brain By Playing With Your Brain
- Creating paper maché brains
- Drawing/painting/sculpting brains
- Safety First--You Can't Afford To Lose Your Head
- Promoting the use of bicycle helmets and automobile seatbelts as protection against traumatic brain injury
- You Are What You Eat
- Drugs, food additives and supplements, and their effects on learning and memory and other behaviors
- Your Window on the World
- An exploration of the senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touching
- The Science of Brain Discovery
- How scientists conduct neuroscience research
- Ethical use of animals in research
