Program Structure

The Master of Information Strategy, Systems and Technology (MISST) is organized around nine learning projects distributed over two years. Participants and faculty work as a close-knit cohort and commit to experience two years of focused, active learning together.

Learning takes place within a sequence of residency and online distributed learning experiences. The program begins with a week-long intensive residency. In addition, there are eight extended weekend residency sessions scheduled between the projects.

With the exception of the first project, which is completed during the week-long residency, all projects begin in one residency and end in the next residency. At the beginning of each project, the cohort is subdivided into teams that work together to respond to assignments targeted to specific learning outcomes. Between the residencies, the learning activities are offered primarily through a collaborative online environment. Using the latest in online collaborative tools, participants conduct individual inquiry, work on targeted learning activities, work together on team projects, and engage in discussions of relevant topics in information strategy, systems and technology.
