Each year at Homecoming, the Delta Alumnae Council presents the Delta Memorial Scholarship Award to a deserving senior Delta active. Each potential recipient must submit a lengthy application to the Alumnae Council for their review. This year’s recipient is more than deserving of the award.
The 2009 Delta Memorial Scholarship Award was proudly presented to Kelsie Pritchard, a senior Delta active from Galloway, Ohio who will graduate this spring with a degree in Business and History and a minor in Economics and Speech Communications.
Kelsie has been extremely active in promoting and spreading awareness of ovarian and breast cancer. Her inspiration comes from her mother’s courageous battle with breast cancer and her untimely death from the disease when Kelsie was a teen. Since the death of her mother, Kelsie has been active in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. She will participate in the next Komen Race for the Cure in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, May 15, 2010 with a group from her neighborhood. This group annually participates in the Race for the Cure in memory of the women from their neighborhood who battled breast cancer.
Congratulations Kelsie! You honor the Delta Club with your many accomplishments. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
News about the Castle
This is the third academic year that the Deltas have been in back in a house. If you haven’t had a chance to make it back to campus and find yourself near campus, stop by and see what your support has done!! All of the common areas, except the bathrooms, are courtesy of alumnae donations!! We still need to remodel the second floor bathroom. The college estimates the cost to be around $20,000. We had hoped to be to get the work done last summer but the cost far exceeded what we can afford!! Donations to the cause are greatly appreciated!!
In addition to the Alumnae Scholarship, the dues we collect each year are used for alumnae mailings, festivities at homecoming, the annual pledge dinner and minor updates around the house.
