Internship Program The Placement Process The PLUS Program at Muskingum College is interested in establishing internship possibilities for current Muskingum College students in areas related to their course of studies at the College. The professional staff of the Center for Advancement of Learning will work closely with students and representatives of business, service agencies, government agencies, and educational institutions to establish a suitable match for either a semester or summer intern program. The process of matching students with companies will involve: STEP 1 Area companies, service or government agencies, and educational institutions submit possible internship positions with a description of responsibilities for the position and a list of preferred qualifications and experience. STEP 2 Students indicate interest by filling out an internship interest form and submitting a resume. STEP 3 The CALInternship Coordinator matches student and company, service or government agency, or educational institution and submits the interest form and resume to the cooperating host or site representative. STEP 4 Upon acceptance of the student resume, the three parties determine the following:
STEP 5 The student completes an internship agreement which is placed on file in the office of the Center for Advancement of Learning with copies sent to the host company. STEP 6 The CALInternship Coordinator maintains contact with the student and the internship host through monitoring the internship process, thoughtful questioning, advising, and offering resources to help strengthen the experience. The internship host will also be asked to complete a formative evaluation of the student intern. Both the site supervisor and the Center for Advancement of Learning Internship Coordinator will discuss the evaluation with the student. Copies of the internship experience and suggestions will be kept on file for future inquires. Completed materials will be available to the Office of Career Services, the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Registrar's Office, where internship credit is to awarded. |
