Mary Lyn Stoll is the newest member of Muskingum College's Department of Religion and Philosophy, which she joined this fall as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy.

Stoll originally came from Maybee, Michigan, earning her bachelor's degree from Hillsdale College in Math and Philosophy. Stoll then went on to Purdue, where she earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy, focusing her studies on ethics.

Prior to coming to Muskingum College, Stoll was involved in various activist groups, including United Students against Sweat Shops and the Peace Coalition in Minnesota.

She has also spent time traveling Europe, visiting such places as France, Germany, Great Britain and Belgium.

"Portland and the twin cities are two places I wouldn't mind living for ever," said Stoll.

Currently, Stoll resides in the village of New Concord with her cat, Ophelia, who is actually the daughter of her first pet.

Stoll said she enjoyed Minnesota; she found it, however, to be "way too buggy."

"I actually started to like being cold," said Stoll of the ever-changing Midwest weather.

Along with activism Stoll also enjoys hiking and going to see local alternative bands in the Ann Arbor area. A few bands she particularly likes are the Suicide Machines, DJ Shadow, and the New Pornographers.

Stoll is currently teaching Social and Political Globalization, Logic, Introduction to Ethics, and Environmental Ethics.
