Fighting Muskies fall to nationally -ranked Baldwin-Wallace 35-17

   Muskingum College suffered its second loss to nationally-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College last Saturday. BW took advantage of key plays in the second quarter to force a spread of 11 points.

   BW struck first with a 90-yard-drive with 6:44 left in the first, when Mark Anders took the ball on a three-yard run.

   The Fighting Muskies were not going to be outdone in the first. In less than four minutes they drove the ball 80-yards to tie the game at seven. Matt Shaul's pass found the hands of josh Fritz on a 19-yard touchdown play.

   The Muskies took their first and only lead of the game early in the second quarter when Scott Elzey's kicked a 24-yard field goal.

   Muskingum had a chance to score again when Matt Meggyesy forced Anders to fumble, but turn the ball over on downs Mark Waller recovered the ball at the BW 38.

    The Yellow Jackets took the lead back for good after Dan Larlham carried the ball 42 yards for a touchdown with just over three minutes left in the half.

   The Yellow Jackets' arsenal was not quite finished, Jeff Fox intercepted a Josh Lowery pass at the BW 20 for a touchdown. Baldwin -Wallace led 21-10 going into halftime.

   BW would go on to score the lone touchdown in first five minutes of the third quarter when Larlham found Nate Wilder in the end zone.

   Muskingum narrowed the margin one last time during the first drive of the fourth quarter. Andy Weiss scored on a 5-yard pass from Shaul.

   The Yellow Jackets scored one more time to finish the game with a 35-17 victory over the Fighting Muskies.

   With this game, the Muskies fell to 5-2 overall, and both losses came from nationally-ranked teams in the OAC. They will compete next at John Carroll University on Saturday Nov. 1. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
