Muskies celebrate Homecoming with Coronation, Varsity Revue
Kolet Beunavides As part of Homecoming weekend, alumni, students and family member watched Muskies display their talents in the Varsity Revue, held Oct. 17, 2003. Half an hour before the show began, the crowd gathered and prepared to watch the awaited event. All the sororities performed a skit; the school dance team showed off their skills; cheerleaders showed off what they could do; and talented students displayed their abilities in singing, acting, and playing instruments. This year's Homecoming theme was "The Beat Goes On....Celebrate the Long Magenta Line." Under the close direction of Becky Clough, the Varsity Revue committee chairperson, and through the help of many others, the performance went along smoothly, except for certain incidents wherein the microphone failed to cooperate. "We both worked long hours for weeks to memorize our lines and get our acting straight," Boag and Blatchly said after they did a "Who's on First" comedy scene. "We are very excited after all the hard work we have put into this. It was fun it will be a good show. We hope everyone will like it," cheerleader Erica McDaniel said. The cheerleaders went door to door to solicit help from guys in their routine. "There was lot of convincing involved, but we got the five guys we needed," cheerleader Mallory Mitchell said. "I was sort of dreading practicing and learning how to step ASA style. There was a lot of frustration involved, but we got through it. I am just excited to perform and to show what we have accomplished together as a group," Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority member Sheppard said. Except for the part of the audience that failed to hear the dialogues in the Varsity Revue, many found it entertaining. "I got there early because I knew it would start filling up quickly. I was lucky I found a seat. It was awesome and I really like it especially when the dance team performed. They looked hot," Theil said.
