The Lady Muskiesı soccer team registered two defeats last week.

The first was on a trip to the College of Wooster to face the Fighting Scots Sept. 10. The team struck first blood but ultimately succumbed to a five-goal deficit.

Junior Carrie Wilson scored in the 12th minute off an assist from sophomore Laura Anderson. Wooster returned with a goal of their own, only to have seniors Angie Keller and Amanda Jones, the offensive player of the game, combined to reclaim the lead later in the first half.

The first 45 minutes concluded with Woo

ster scoring a tying goal, but things were going the Muskiesı way according to Head Coach Mary Beth Caudill.    After the break, the Muskies allowed five goals.

"It was a different half," she said. "There was defensive miscommunication and disorganization."

As hosts to Case Western Reserve University on Sept. 13, the Muskies allowed a goal off a corner kick in the 64th minute.

Although severely outshot through the game, the defense remained strong under constant pressure. Freshman goalkeeper Jami Luburgh kept the game close with many saves including a finger-tip save in the first half.

"Obviously itıs been a little rough, but I think we had a nice showing against Case and thatıs something we can use as a positive," Jones said. "We held it together and can build on that. Playing tougher teams will help us get prepared for OAC when it really counts."

"If we can put two halves together weıll be great in the OAC. This is the best team weıve had in eight years but havenıt gotten it together yet," Caudill said.
