Muskies come up empty handed: Baldwin-Wallace wins 3-0; one game remains

The Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets stung twice in the first period and once in the second en route to a 3-0 win over the Muskies in men's soccer action. Sophomore goalie Zach Wagner tallied five saves for the Muskies in the loss.      Head Coach Seamus Reilly was disappointed with the loss, which dropped the Muskies to 2-14-1 overall (0-7 in the OAC).

"We outplayed them and just couldn't finish," Reilly said. Senior Justin Deblasis and junior Jack Cornell agreed with Reilly.

"We outplayed them, but we had trouble with the front being able to finish. Baldwin-Wallace only had three really good chances to score and they capitalized on all of them," Deblasis said.

Cornell said the Muskies just could not find the back of the net.

"We had a lot better scoring opportunities. We just couldn't manage to put it in the goal. You have to do that to win," Cornell said.

Reilly was optimistic about the rest of the season, despite Saturday's loss.

"We've got to win the rest of the games. I believe we can and I hope the players do too," Reilly said.

Deblasis said the blame didn't fall with the individual players, but that the team had some problems to work on before the next game.

"We had a lot of mental lapses during the game. It just seemed like we played hard and then we gave up," he said.

The Muskies' last game will be Nov. 2 at Muskingum College against Ohio Northern. This will be senior day. The team hopes to pull out a win to give the seniors a victory in their last game.
