James MacIvor Feminists spoke to Muskingum students Oct. 24 in the Kelley CoffeeHouse concerning several topics, body image in particular. Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards spoke to students in lieu of Ophira Edut, the intended speaker who was unable to attend. Body image is a term describing the cultural attitude towards how a person should look to be "good looking." The speakers spoke of the general problem of body image in our culture. They also spoke about the history of feminism and how it had changed the United States since 1970. Thy captured this idea in their book, "Manifesta." Student reactions to the speakers were positive. Angela Demonte spoke of how impressed she was with the speakers. "I didn't agree with all the points they made, but I was really interested on how they expressed their views," she said. Ryan "Rhino" Lentz also enjoyed the speakers. "In my three years at Muskingum, this was the best set of speakers I have heard," he said.
