Upon the request of Ohio Governor Bob Taft, 2005 States' ARC Co-Chair, and Anne B. Pope, ARC Federal Co-Chair, Muskingum College served as the setting for the Appalachian Regional Commission’s fall conference, Winning the Economic Future: The Rural Advantage, held October 5-6 and hosted by the State of Ohio.
In addition to the governors of the 13 Appalachian states, more than 250 decision makers, community and economic developers, and representatives from non-profit organizations and state and federal agencies were in attendance.
The conference explored innovative strategies to help Appalachia's rural communities thrive in the 21st century's global economy.
