The weekly edition of U.S. News & World Report magazine contains a portion of the rankings and will also go on sale August 22.
This marks the fifth year that Muskingum has been named to the list of national colleges. Prior to 2001, Muskingum had been a regular member on the list of outstanding regional colleges in the Midwest.

“Muskingum’s enthusiasm for the future has never been stronger,” said Muskingum College President Anne C. Steele. “In addition to an intensive growth in facilities, Muskingum’s academic program continues to grow in reputation. We are pleased to see this quality affirmed by U.S. News & World Report.”

Located in New Concord, Ohio, and founded in 1837, Muskingum College offers baccalaureate programs in the liberal arts and sciences to 1,700 undergraduate students in a residential college setting. The College also offers master’s level programs to approximately 1,150 graduate students and graduate-credit professional development courses to nearly 400 additional individual learners.

The new state-of-the-art 32,000 square foot Philip and Betsey Caldwell Hall was dedicated last October and houses Muskingum’s speech, journalism, and theatre programs. The college is expected to break ground for its new Campus Center in the spring of 2006. Planning for a new facility to house the music program is ongoing. In October 2004, Muskingum publicly announced The Long Magenta Line…The Campaign for Muskingum College, a comprehensive capital campaign for facilities, operating support and endowment with a goal of $55 million.
