Muskingum College's May Term offers "excursions" into special topics, domestic and international study

FEBRUARY 24, 2003 - Muskingum College is offering a wide range of course work, ranging from "excursions" into the worlds of music, art, business, theology, and film as part of its 2003 "May Term." The term is an intense four-week course of study with daily classes, beginning May 12 and ending June 6.

A number of special topic courses are offered, including: Personal Investing, Business, Hollywood Examines Business and the Economy, Sports Economics, Politics in Film, and Gender Communication.

Tuition is $265 per credit with a discount for tuition paid by April 2. A number of housing arrangements are available. Contact Margaret Adams, May Term Director, at 740/826-8123 for more information.

In addition to the on-campus May Term courses, a number of domestic and international study tours are scheduled throughout the summer.

Domestic study tours (May 11-23) include a clinical and field study in urban education with a two-week experience in inner-city schools in Philadelphia, PA. Another class, Miliary History of the American Civil War, will take students to critical locations and battlefields of the war, including Gettysburg, Antietam, Richmond, and Appomattox.

International study tours are planned throughout the summer and include trips to Puerto Rico (May 13-June 3), Spain (July 7-August 1), Slovakia (May 12-June 3), Germany (July 17-August 12) , and France (July).

Students enrolled in Latin American history and Hispanic language and culture courses will visit Puerto Rico. Another group will visit Toledo, Spain. Political science and sociology students will travel to Slovakia to study social change and environmental security.

Participants in a contemporary German course and a Holocaust history class will visit Germany. A special trip to France will offer credit in international business and French language and culture.
