Student-broadcasters earn state and national honors

Muskingum University’s student-broadcasters have earned both state and national recognition for their work on the university’s two stations, WMCO-90.7 FM radio and WMCO-TV, which operate under the banner of Orbit Media.

OCA AWARDSOverall broadcast operations for both stations have earned the “Ohio's Distinguished Student Organization” award, granted by the Ohio Communication Association (OCA). The award was presented at the OCA annual convention held recently in Marietta. Student-broadcasters accepting the award on behalf of the station were Joe Lemasters, Kaylee Lukacena, Kayla Rausch and Jessica White.  WMCO was nominated for the award by Muskingum alumnus Doug Switzer’ 79, who was on the WMCO staff as a student.  He was motivated to make the nomination after he visited campus during WMCO’s 50th anniversary celebration and was impressed with what he saw.  He also was on hand in Marietta to present the award.
