Women’s soccer team earns NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award
The
Muskingum University women's soccer team is one of only 13 teams in the
nation to receive the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award for 2011. The Gold Award is
regarded as one of the association’s most difficult awards to earn.
Muskingum’s is the only team from Ohio to earn
the award. Teams are eligible from all divisions of the National
Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics and the National Junior College Athletic
Association.
The team also has earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 15th straight year. To receive that award, a team must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average for the entire academic year
Under the guidance of Head Coach Mary Beth
Caudill, the women’s soccer team has been honored with either the gold
or silver ethics/sportsmanship award in 11 of the last 14 years.
Coach Caudill has led the women’s soccer team for
16 years, and currently serves as president of the Ohio Collegiate
Soccer Association.
