John Glenn '43 Receives Nation's Highest Civilian Honor

Congratulations to Trustee John Glenn '43 on receiving our nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. President Barack Obama presented the award at a White House ceremony held on May 29.

On November 18, 2011, Glenn was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of his incomparable achievements and his service to our country as the first American astronaut to orbit the earth in 1962, as a crew member on the 1998 mission of the space shuttle Discovery, and as a United States Senator representing Ohio for twenty-five years.
