Mrs. Karn co-founded Market Systems Incorporated in 1994. MSI is the largest provider in the nation of equity compliance solutions for stock and bond exchanges, U.S. brokerage firms, and market makers.
In 1997, MSI created the first commercially available T+1 (trade plus 1 day) stock order compliance system and is now providing services in real time. MSI processes approximately 95% of trades within the equity marketplace. This compliance system verifies that executed orders meet Security Exchange Commission standards. MSI builds a real time base of U.S. consolidated tape of trades and quotes for both Listed and Over The Counter stocks to create a real time compliance exchange.
Prior to founding MSI, Mrs. Karn served as Director of Public Relations for the Chicago Stock Exchange. Previously, she served as Vice President of Marketing for a Chicago-based options and stock trading firm.
While at Muskingum, Mrs. Karn was a member and President of the Muskingum Players. She served as a Resident Assistant and student counselor. Among her academic honors are membership in Phi Sigma Tau (the Philosophy Honorary) and the Women’s Senior Honorary. Following graduation, she served as Assistant Director in the College’s Office of Admissions before joining the Dean Witter municipal bond trading desk.
She and her husband, Ted, reside in Chicago with their two children.
