Muskingum College to Assist Hurricane Rebuilding Efforts
Muskingum College is developing plans and programs to help support relief efforts in the Gulf Coast region. “All members of the Muskingum community are deeply moved by this tragedy and want to respond in ways that will help meet the profound needs of the region,” said Muskingum College President Anne C. Steele. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are struggling to overcome the effects of the devastation wrought by Katrina.”
Muskingum welcomes students enrolled in colleges in the Gulf area that have suspended operations. Those affected are encouraged to contact Muskingum College Office of Admissions at (800) 752-6082 or go to the College's website at www.muskingum.edu.
Our students are working to aid immediate relief efforts through campus fundraisers. Over the weekend of September 3rd, all proceeds from collegiate activities were donated to the American Red Cross. This is the first of what will be multiple fundraising efforts.
Coordinated by our students, Muskingum has adopted a shelter at Louisiana State University, which is housing children orphaned by the storm and floods. Materials are being collected, with clothing and books as a priority.
Muskingum’s history as a serving community calls upon us to respond in multiple ways. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people facing this desolation.
