Speech team places second in Ohio and 22nd nationally at Pi Kappa Delta tournament

Four Muskingum College students garnered significant honors at the biennial Pi Kappa Delta national forensics tournament, held March 17-19 at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Muskingum placed 22nd overall in individual events sweepstakes at the tournament and ranked second in Ohio in individual events.

Top competitors earn overall ratings of good, excellent or superior. The Muskingum College team members received top ratings for every event they entered.

Making up the Muskingum team were Eugene Saunders '06, Daniel Shuey '05, Nate Strum '06 and Kevin Triskett '07.

Earlier this month, each of these students was inducted into Pi Kappa Delta, the national forensics honorary, which also qualified them for the national tournament. They were granted degrees of special distinction for their academic and forensics achievements. Additionally, Saunders, Shuey, and Triskett were awarded the degree of highest distinction for community service, at least two academic years of forensics participation, and a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

The forensics team at Muskingum is coached and advised by Instructor of Speech Communication Rachel Pollock.
