University of Lethbridge (Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada)
Requirements: Students must have at least sophomore standing at Muskingum College to attend U of L.
Financial Responsibilities: Students are responsible for payment of room and board to the host institution, as well as transportation costs to and from the host institution, class materials, and other personal expenses. All students are responsible for ensuring that they have basic health coverage during their stay. Health insurance can be purchased at the Health Centre at the U of L; three months of coverage costs about $132.00. Students continue to pay tuition directly to Muskingum College, and scholarships and financial aid still apply.
Room and Board: U of L has accommodation for 548 students on campus is dormitory, apartment, or townhome facilities. All hoursing units are non-smoking and provide access to study space, social rooms, TV lounges, washers/dryers, and game/exercise areas. Each bedroom or apartment is equipped with a telephone jack and internet connection, although the fees for these items are not included in housing fees. Students living in the dormitory are required to purchase a Residence Dining Plan. This plan provides students with a card and declining balance which can be redeemed at the many Food Services outlets on campus.
Classes: Much like Muskingum, U of L is well-known for its small class sizes and individualized attention to students. U of L consistently ranks within the top 10 undergraduate schools in Canada. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences is the largest faculty, or academic department, at the U of L. The topics covered in this faculty are humanities, sciences, and social sciences.
About Lethbridge: The city of Lethbridge is an ethnically diverse community of 67,00 located near the Canadian Rockies and just north of the Canada/United States border. The climate is moderate -- the summers are warm and dry, the winter chill is moderated by warm "Chinook" winds that blow from the mountains. Many historical and national parks are within 100 kilometers from Lethbridge. The University of Lethbridge offers a program for international students to help them with the transition to life in Lethbridge. The International Centre for Students Welcome Service costs $125 (CA) and ensures that the student will be picked up when he arrives in Lethbridge, will have a tour of the city, will be dropped off at campus housing, and will get a trip to a Lethbridge bank to take care of financial issues.
