The English Support Program

Admission of international students to Muskingum College is based mainly on high school grades and test scores. A Computer-Based TOEFL score of 213 is generally required for admission. If you are academically qualified and have a Computer-Based TOEFL score of at least 180, you can be accepted as a full-time student by participating in our English Support Program. If accepted, you will take one ESL class per semester, either ESP 082 or ESP 100, in addition to your regular classes. Students may go completely into regular courses upon approval of the Director of International Programs. This decision is based on the student’s grades, performance in ESL classes and the recommendations of professors. No additional TOEFL score is required.

A Typical Weekly Schedule

Students' schedules vary depending on their interests and abilities. Students in the English Support Program are encouraged to take some general requirements right away, like First Year Seminar, mathematics and laboratory sciences. Physical education and studio arts are also suitable for students while they are still refining basic communication skills.
