MAP: Allied Health Studies
The Allied Health Studies major is a bachelor’s degree program open to allied health professionals holding an associate’s degree. The program offers three areas of specialization – Community Health, Health Administration and Health Science.
The health care industry is rapidly growing, creating an ever-expanding need for health care professionals. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment in the health care industry is projected to increase 22 percent through 2016 with 3 million new positions becoming available.
Allied Health Studies is designed for allied health professionals who have earned an associate’s degree in an allied health field such as physical therapist assistant, occupational therapy assistant, respiratory therapy, radiology, laboratory technology and health information management.
Earning your bachelor’s degree at Muskingum will provide you the opportunity to broaden your knowledge base in your area of discipline as well as gain a broader and deeper understanding of health care. The degree will prepare you to advance your career and continue to enhance your clinical knowledge while developing leadership and managements skills to work with special populations.

At Muskingum, the Allied Health Studies major requires an associate’s degree in an allied health field and 30 credit hours in core requirements and a specialization area.
