Student Health Insurance
Muskingum University's Student Health Insurance
The University offers insurance plans to it's full-time undergraduate students and our international students. The international plan complies with INS requirements. The insurance is optional for full-time undergraduate students. All international students are required to purchase the insurance.
The University requires that full-time undergraduate students opt out of the insurance through completion of an online waiver or the return of a waiver card. Before you waive this coverage, please consider:
- This coverage may be helpful if your family's medical insurance network does not extend to the Muskingum University area. Some family insurance policies exclude dependent children after their a certain age, or the coverage can be an inexpensive secondary coverage for those with a large deductible or co-pay.
The online waiver must be submitted before the end of the drop/add period on September 2, 2011. Proof of existing coverage is required. International students may not opt out of the international insurance. Waiver instructions are listed below

Other students who wish to purchase health insurance will have to do so independently. If you desire, Wells Fargo offers plans for individual students at their web site.
Waiver instructions
Muskingum has sent all student information to Pearce & Pearce, Inc., so your information is already in that system. It is important for you to do the following if you wish to waive the insurance, go to: www.studentinsurance.com, and search for Muskingum, when the Muskingum page appears, click on the “Student Login” button and then click on “click here to create an account” under “Create an Account”.
When you click on "click here to creat an account", you will be asked to verify yourself
- Your Student ID will be your Muskingum student Id number. If you are not sure of this number, check your ID or statement from the Business Office. You may need to add two zeros to the beginning of your ID number.
- Last Name is the last name on file at Muskingum. If your last name has changed, please contact Muskingum to update.
- DOB (date of birth) is in MM/DD/YYYY format. If this does not match with what Muskingum has on file, please contact us.
- E-mail Address, this may be your Muskingum e-mail address. Ex: @muskingum.edu, or a personal email address you have on file with Muskingum.
- Password – you will create & confirm your own password. Passwords must contain 6-12 characters with at least one (1) upper case letter, one (1) lower case, and one (1) number. Ex: 20Muskingum11
Once on your account page you may waive the insurance by clicking on ‘switch to waive’ and fill out the online waiver form. You will receive an email Confirmation number upon completing your waiver and then another email once the waiver has been approved or declined.
Students wanting to keep the Muskingum University Student Insurance Plan, please take a moment to create your online account so you may access your information and you may also enroll a spouse and/or dependent (s) from your account.
The fall waiver deadline is September 2, 2011. If you missed this deadline, you will have the opportunity to waive for the spring/summer semester coverage. Spring/summer waivers will start being accepted in mid-November and end on January 13, 2012.
