Muskies run at Otterbein Invitational
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, September 27, 2008 - The Muskingum College cross country squads took part in the Otterbein Invitational on Saturday. The men were paced by freshman Michael Besl, while the women were led by sophomore Katie Smith.
On the men's side, Besl finished in the 201st position out of 297 runners with a time of 29:02.7. Freshman Jeff Shawver was next among the Muskie finishers with a finish time of 29:39.3, while freshman Adam Bird finished out the top three runners for Muskingum. Bird crossed the finish line at 30:46.5
On the women's side, Smith finished in 181st place out of 280 runners with a time of 26:41.4. Senior Lauren Jackson was next among the Muskie runners as she crossed the finish line at 28:07.0. Freshman Bethany Dulaney finished out the top three runners for the Fish with a time of 28:55.9.
As a team, the men finished in 20th place out of 21 teams with a score of 644. The Muskie women placed 22nd out of 23 teams with a recorded score of 668. Ashland University took first place on the men's side, while Case Western was the winner on the women's side.
The Muskies will next see action on Friday, October 10, at the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.
