Meet the Coaches
Joe Montgomery
Head Coach
Joe Montgomery is entering his fifth year as head wrestling coach at Muskingum University.
Over the past four seasons, Montgomery has guided seven wrestlers to top four finishes in the in the rugged Ohio Athletic Conference, including coaching Dave Minner to the 157-pound OAC championship and a berth to the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships.
Furthermore, Montgomery guided the 2007-08 Fighting Muskies to a six-match winning streak which was the programs longest winning streak since the 1998-99 campaign.
Montgomery arrived in New Concord from Emory & Henry College where he has served as an assistant football coach since 2006. He attended Mount Union College where he competed in wrestling and football. He was a member of the 2003 Purple Raider wrestling squad that finished fourth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, and was a four-year member of the Mount Union football team that won four OAC Championships and two National Championships (2002, 2006).
Montgomery graduated from Mount Union with a B.A. in business management in 2006.
Bob Fox
Assistant Coach
Bob Fox is in his 24th year as an assistant wrestling coach at Muskingum University.
Fox was rewarded for his loyalty to the Muskie wrestling program at the team’s banquet in March of 2000. He receieved the team’s Dedication to Sport award for coaching at the same time he was working toward completion of his master’s degree and serving as a custodian at the university.
In addition to his service to the wrestling program, Fox is an equipment manager for Muskingum’s football team.
