Hoying named Third Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American

NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 18, 2007 - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced that Muskingum College junior catcher Kari Hoying was named Third Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-American.

Hoying, a first team All-Central Region honoree and two-time Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year, batted a staggering .450 with 68 hits, 45 RBI, 15 doubles and 11 home runs. She carried a .795 slugging percentage and scored 39` runs. Additionally, Hoying led the seventh-ranked Muskies with 21 multiple hit games and 10 multiple RBI games, while also notching a team-high 19-game hitting streak earlier this year.

Previously this year, Hoying was named First Team All-OAC and named to the All-OAC Tournament squad.

A total of 13 players have been named All-American under Head Coach Donna Newberry's tenure. They include Mandy Carnes (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003), Nicole Blubaugh (2003, 2004, 2005), Kari Hoying (2006, 2007), Erica Hoyt (2003, 2004), Kim Tackett (2005), Amy Iammarino (2005), April Rader (2004), Shauna Jellison (2004), Carla Kampschmidt (2001), Jennifer Segner (2000), Kris Naegele (1992), Chris Sheaffer (1992) and Kate Titus (1990, 1989).
