Muskies stumble in conference play at Marietta
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, October 14, 2008 - The Muskingum College men's soccer team stumbled in conference play at Marietta College Tuesday, 3-1. [boxscore]
Marietta struck first with a goal in the 21st minute and maintained the 1-0 lead into intermission. The Pioneers added their second tally in the 73rd minute and completed their scoring in the 80th minute. Muskingum sophomore Cam Jonard scored in the 90th minute on a loose ball in the box to pace the Muskies. The strike was his second of the season.
Muskie sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Seas played all 90 minutes between the pipes and recorded 11 saves.
Marietta held a 17-7 advantage in shots, while Muskingum held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Muskingum (3-9-1, 0-3-1) hits the pitch next when they host Baldwin-Wallace College for Homecoming on Saturday, October 18. The match is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
