Tournament Preview
Mount Union and Muskingum will co-host the 2005 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men’s Golf Championships on Thursday-Friday, April 28-29 at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.

Nine schools will look to dethrone Otterbein from the top spot. The Cardinals have won seven straight OAC Tournament titles, including eight of the last nine. Otterbein also won the titles in 1992 and 1993.
Otterbein sophomore Andy Miller was the 2004 Brian Unk OAC Tournament medalist after firing a two-day, five-over-par, 149. Miller shot a two-under par-70 on the second day to secure his win. He is the ninth Cardinal overall to win Tournament medalist honors.

Miller was one of four Cardinal golfers to finish in the top-10 and earn All-OAC honors. Frank Rihtar was runner-up, junior Matt Cooperrider finished fourth and senior Doug Christopher was eighth overall. This is the second All-Conference award for both Rihtar and Cooperrider. Rihtar tied for sixth in 2002, while Cooperrider tied for seventh at last year’s OAC Championships.

Otterbein defeated runner-up Baldwin-Wallace by 38 strokes (610-648). Six of the top-10 golfers return to the course this year after earning All-OAC honors.

River Greens Golf Course
River Greens Golf Course has matured into one of the most enjoyable and finest tests of golf in Ohio. The tree lined, soft, lush fairways are constantly maintained and manicured. This contributed to River Greens receiving a 4 ½ star rating, and was named as one of North America’s 2001 best public-access courses by Golf Digest in the 2000-2001 Places to Play publication.

The first nine was opened to the public in 1968 and the second nine a year later. The “original 18”, the River Course and the Greens Course play to a par of 72, from the blue tees it measures 6600 yards and has a slope of 120. Jack Kidwell was the architect. In 1994 the third nine, the Pines Course was completed, and is 3300 yards long from the tips. This course features three par 3’s and three par 5’s, and all three nines have 4 sets of tees.

River Greens Golf Course plays host to The Coshocton Invitational, The Eastern-Ohio Amateur, and The Powerade Fall Collegiate.

River Greens is located at 22749 State Route 751, West Lafayette, Ohio 43845. It is 15 minutes east of Coshocton and 6 minutes west of Interstate 77. The course is 2 hours south of Cleveland, 2 hours west of Pittsburgh, 90 minutes east of Columbus and 1 hour north of Marietta.
