Muskingum routes Wilmington in OAC action

With the win, Muskingum moves to 9-13 overall and 4-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Muskingum is currently in a three-way tie for seventh place in the league with John Carroll University and Marietta College. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season advance to the OAC Tournament. Muskingum next plays at Otterbein University on Saturday, February 11. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
Muskingum senior Carissa Bosch led all scorers with 17 points. She connected on 6-of-12 from the field, which included a 5-for-8 performance from behind the arc. Bosch also registered a game-high six steals. Sophomore Tori Jarrett added a career-high tying 14 points with four three-pointers. Senior Hannah Nelson scored seven points to increase her career total to 1,011 points, which ranks 20th all-time at Muskingum. The Muskies ended the game shooting .415 (27-of-65) from the field with a season-high 14 triples.
With the loss, Wilmington slides to 11-11 overall and 6-9 in league play. Courtney Tucker and Bria Eslick led the Quakers with eight points each. Wilmington ended the night shooting .440 (22-of-50) from the floor.
Muskingum raced out to a 26-6 lead through the opening 10 minutes of play and never looked back. Muskingum led 39-17 at the break. In the second half, Muskingum led by as many as 31.
In a special pregame ceremony, Nelson was honored for scoring her 1,000 career point last Saturday against Baldwin-Wallace College.
At halftime, the Muskingum women's soccer team was recognized for achieving the NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award and for garnering the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 15th straight year. In 2011, the Muskies were one of only 13 schools across all NCAA divisions to have the prestigious Gold Award bestowed upon them.
