Whiteman named to All-Star team of Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, July 14, 2008 - Muskingum College junior All-American and Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year catcher Brock Whiteman was named to the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Team.
Whiteman, who plays for the Peekskill Robins (New York) of the ACBL, leads the league in hits (34) and RBIs (19) and ranks second in the league in batting average (.415), slugging percentage (.561), doubles (9) and total bases (46) and is fourth in runs scored (18).
The all-star game will be played at St. John’s University on July 28.
Fellow All-OAC Muskie Wes Carder also plays for Peekskill. The junior shortstop ranks 17th in the league with a .300 batting average and is a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen bases.
The Robins recruit college all-stars from schools around the nation and over the last four Major League Baseball drafts have had 33 players recruited and signed to play baseball professionally.
