Whiteman and Carder to play for Peekskill Robins in 2008
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, March 17, 2008 - The Muskingum College All-Ohio Athletic Conference duo of sophomore catcher Brock Whiteman and sophomore shortstop Wes Carder have signed to play summer ball for the Peekskill Robins (New York) of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
Last season, Whiteman hit .343 and led the Black & Magenta in at-bats (137), hits (47), triples (5), home runs (4), RBI (37), total bases (75) and slugging percentage (.547). Carder led the Fish in hitting with a .422 average and was second on the team with 43 hits and two triples.
The Robins recruit college all-stars from schools around the nation and over the last four Major League Baseball drafts have had 33 players recruited and signed to play baseball professionally.
The Muskies now have three players signed to play summer ball. Earlier this year, junior pitcher/outfielder Levi Shaw signed with the Washington BlueSox (Pennsylvania) of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.
